Vecttor includes Telefónica Tech and Geotab solutions to its fleet

Telefónica Tech and Geotab have announced their collaboration with Vecttor to increase the efficiency, safety and sustainability of their vehicles. Telefónica Tech provides a comprehensive fleet management service for Vecttor vehicles in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Seville and Valencia. This solution includes various components such as IoT connectivity, device, and communication platform. As a result, Vecttor has enabled more than 3,000 VTC vehicles to reduce 20 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

As part of the three companies’ commitment to sustainable mobility, data provided by Telefónica Tech and Geotab has enabled the Vecttor fleet to save between 14,000 and 18,000 liters of fuel per month, which in economic terms means savings of more than €200,000 each year.

Another important challenge Vecttor faced with this agreement was reducing the leisure times between each trip, i.e. the times drivers travel without passengers. The solution thus allows Vecttor to access all the necessary information to reduce and optimize these waiting times as much as possible, relevant data such as distances traveled, where and when parking or trip history in each vehicle.

Commit to being safer at the wheel thanks to technology

Proprietary algorithms and accelerometer data have enabled Vecttor to perform a comprehensive reconstruction of any accident, which in turn increases occupant safety on every journey.

Manuel Delgado, CIO of Vecttor commented: “Partnerships like this are a clear example of Vecttor’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the safety of our customers and employees. Having measurement systems like Telefónica Tech and Geotab allows us to record valuable data and adjust our strategy according to the results obtained. Moreover, this technology has become a key element on the path towards electrification of fleets and building a sustainable, digital and high-quality sector.”

Gonzalo Martín Villa, CEO of IoT and Big Data at Telefónica Tech, said: “We are very proud that Vecttor chose our fleet management solution to make their vehicles more efficient and reduce their environmental impact. This is another example of how our IoT and big data technologies can help companies change their business models to make them more competitive.”

Ivan Liquereca, Vice President Southern and Western Europe at Geotab adds: “The role of technology is important to promote more efficient, sustainable and safe mobility in Spain. Our data analysis allows us to monitor fleet movements and identify areas for improvement. More and more passenger carriers will look to use vehicle data to achieve Cost savings and improved sustainability impact. We are pleased that a leading multi-mobility company like Vecttor is betting on our technology to continue revolutionizing mobility in our country.”

Accelerate decarbonization in the transport sector

With over 3.6 million connected vehicles worldwide, Geotab is uniquely positioned to help accelerate decarbonization in the transportation sector by providing a comprehensive suite of data-driven tools and information to support fleets on their paths to sustainability (including the Electric Vehicle Certification Report) , Expanding electrification and technological innovation through education and research project collaboration.

For its part, Vecttor is the fleet leading the way in sustainability and electrification in the VTC sector in Spain. Currently, more than 95% of the Vecttor fleet is marked ECO or Zero, which is less than 5% in the Spanish fleet. The Spanish company is making progress in reducing emissions by increasing the percentage of cars with a zero mark year after year, including 100% electric and hydrogen cars.

Telefónica Tech, as a leader in digital transformation, has an innovative range of technical solutions to improve the mobility sector and make it more sustainable. Telefónica Tech’s fleet management solution, which uses Geotab technology, improves vehicle efficiency, reduces operating costs and achieves fuel savings of up to 15% thanks to the deployment of IoT sensors and advanced data analysis using advanced big data technology and artificial intelligence.
